News Nepal Government Should Feel Ashamed Of Not Having Proper International Stadiums In Country - COMMENT
GoalNepal

What a shame. Nepal doesn't have proper international stadiums.

Due to unavailability of international stadium in Nepal, ANFA is forceful to play home matches of FIFA world cup 2019 qualifiers away. Nepal has been grouped with mighty Australia, Jordan, Kuwait & Chinese Taipei.

ANFA proposed AFC on Tuesday that they would play their five matches out of eight matches away. Nepal will however host Chinese Taipei on March 26, 2020, Jordan on June 4, 2020 and Australia on March 31, 2020 at Dasharath Stadium.

The only one Dasharath stadium - which was badly damaged by Gorkha EQ in 2015 - is under renovation. The renovation work should have been completed earlier but it still needs three more months to be ready. China Aid is renovating the project.

Largely, Nepal government should feel ashamed of this situation. ANFA also needs to be blamed for not being able to coordinate with government agencies properly.

This indicates the FA needs to have its own stadium. The FA could use its resources to construct at least 10-15K seater stadium to avoid this kind of situation in future. For this, ANFA leadership needs strong will power and the bold vision.

For your information, Nepal government has decided to construct seven international stadiums in seven provinces but nothing has been mooted for the projects.

The stadium which is being constructed in Pokhara is grandstand type not solid proper stadium that we see in international arena. The stadium which they constructed in Nepalgunj is the same one and it doesn't meet criteria set by AFC and FIFA. The stadium we have in Biratnagar is only okay for age bar or SAFF standard tournaments.

Now let's think about government policies. Just imagaine how serious they are for the sports. Actually, they don't feel bad or guilty for not having a single international stadium that can host international matches in the country. How pathetic the situation is. But who cares?

We need such leader who understands the basics of sports, can uplift the image tarnished by poor infrastructure and can build much needed stadiums and other physical infrastructures on time.

But the question is do we have such leader in Nepal who can guide Nepalese sports ahead?
