GoalNepal

GoalNepal can confirm that FIFA has sent a letter to ANFA on government inteference.

According to the source, in the letter sent on December 1, 2017, FIFA has asked ANFA why it moved to National election commission for district & central level election in response to the letter sent by ANFA mentioning that national election commission stopped them to hold election and proposing for new dates.

The district election was supposed to be held from Kartik 25-Mangsir 25 and central election was supposed to be held in the month of Magh, which was already endorsed by AFC & FIFA.

ANFA replied to FIFA on December 2 with clarification.

ANFA's spokesperson Sanjeev Mishra told GoalNepal that they had received the letter from FIFA and they had already clarified the world governing body.

"We have replied to FIFA about the situation. We couldn't hold the election due to directives from the election commission. We are hopeful that FIFA will give us positive response.", said Mishra.

FIFA doesn't allow government to intervene at country's football governing body.

Interestingly, there is no any bylaws at commission's guideliness to stop the election of sporting associations.

The source told GoalNepal that ANFA officials sought favor from the commission to stop the election. The FA assumed that they could take advantage for district/central level election after federal and provincial elections in Nepal.

ANFA is unable to hold A Division league for five years and national league for two years citing ground unavailability. However, there are as many as three football grounds in Kathmandu and the stadiums outside are all ready to host matches.

Interestingly, ANFA is hosting international home matches at ANFA complex and Halchowk ground.
