5th Mount star cup got underway on Monday.

Hosts Mount Star defeated Nawayuwa sports & cultural family 2-0 in the opening match. Amrit Gurung and Bir Bahadur Tharu scored apiece for the winners.

Tharu became the man of the match.

Sunaulo Sangam will play against Kapilvastu on Tuesday.

16 teams are participating in the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 2,25,000.
