Overconfident Nepal suffered stunning 3-0 loss at the hands of Maldives in the first semifinal match of SAFF Championship 2018.

Abdul Ghani scored in 9th minute while super sub Ibrahim Waheed scored twice (84', 86') to ensure a stunning result for Islanders.

With this result, Nepal's dream of playing SAFF finals and winning SAFF title is still a dream.

In the second semifinal, Pakistan is playing against India.
