Hosts Damak XI secured its place in last sixteen defeating Rupandehi XI 4-3 on penalties in the second pre-quarterfinal match of 1st Damak gold cup at Damak Multiple campus ground, Damak, Jhapa on Thursday.

The match ended at 1-1 draw in the regulation time before going for spot-kick battle.

Damak XI goalie Bikash Majhi was adjudged the man of the match. He received Rs.11,000.

Nepal APF Club will take on Madan Bhandari Sports Academy in the first quarterfinal match tomorrow.

Damak municipality sports development committee is organizing the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 13,71,000.
