An open men's football tournament and an inter-ward volleyball competition are set to take place in Sanwa, Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-4, Taplejung. The event is being organized by the Thalang Sporting Club of Sanwa.

The club recently held a press conference in Phungling, the district headquarters, to announce the details of the tournament. Club President Mani Kumar Thalang revealed that the competition will run from Mangsir 30 to Poush 5, coinciding with the Kirat Limbu community's cultural celebration, Chasok Tangnam (Nwagi Festival).

Thalang shared that the winner of the open men’s football tournament will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 101,111, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 61,000. In the inter-ward volleyball competition, the winner will take home Rs 50,000, with the runner-up receiving Rs 30,000.

Purna Thalang, the club's secretary, explained that the tournament aims to foster the development of sports while also promoting local tourist attractions, including the Phungfunge waterfall in Mikwakhola Rural Municipality. The event is also intended to help preserve the community's rich cultural traditions.

The main sponsor for the event is Mikwakhola Rural Municipality, while Madhya Mewa Developers Pvt. Ltd. is a key sponsor.
