AFC Women’s Champions League™ Trophy Unveiled

The exquisite silverware was unveiled at the official draw ceremony for the Preliminary Stage and Group Stage for the maiden 2024/25 season by AFC Women’s Football Committee Chairperson, Ms. Kanya Keomany, with Japanese icon Mana Iwabuchi in attendance.

A work of art that masterfully blends traditional design with a modern aesthetic, the gleaming silver trophy symbolises not just victory but also a celebration of unity and joy in women’s football as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) heralds a new era with the landmark AFC Women’s Champions League™.

Standing at 65 centimetres in height, the trophy was designed and handcrafted by the world-renowned trophy makers, Thomas Lyte. The London-based luxury goldsmiths and silversmiths hold a Royal Warrant and are responsible for many of the world's most prestigious trophies in professional sports, including the AFC Asian Cup™ and AFC Women’s Asian Cup™.

Both the AFC and Thomas Lyte worked in close collaboration to design a trophy with an iconic and recognisable silhouette that reflects the groundbreaking nature of the AFC Women’s Champions League™.

The flowing handles showcase the unity of fans and players from across Asia by depicting both groups raising an arm in a jubilant gesture, as they lift the trophy together in shared celebration. Weaving graceful form and rich significance through the elegant design, the names of the champions will be engraved at the base of the trophy below the tournament title.

Twenty-one teams will vie for the right to be the first name on the AFC Women’s Champions League™ trophy, as they gear up for the inaugural edition, which will commence in August.

The draw, held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, decided the four groups for 13 sides, to be played in a centralised league format between August 25 and 31, with the four group winners qualifying for the Group Stage. These teams will join the other eight clubs that have qualified directly to the Group Stage, which comprises three groups of four teams to be contested in a centralised league format from October 6 to 12. China PR, Thailand and Vietnam will host one group each.

The top two finishers of each group and the two best third-placed sides progress to the Quarter-finals, to be played on March 22 and 23, 2025. A Knockout Stage draw will be conducted to determine the four single-leg Quarter-final pairings, which will be followed by a centralised Finals that sees the Semi-finals and Final – all single-leg ties – being played out from May 21 to 24, 2025.

With an attractive prize purse on offer, the first ever champions of the prestigious AFC Women’s Champions League™ will not only hoist a dazzling new trophy but can also expect to be rewarded with at least USD1.3 million.
