Dawa Lama, the vice president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), has been released by the Nepal Police following his arrest on Wednesday.

Despite being sentenced to 5 years in prison in a drug case, Lama was released after it was discovered that the Supreme Court had issued an order for him to be placed under surveillance.

According to Rabindra Regmi, the spokesperson for the Crime Investigation Office, Lama was released upon receipt of the Supreme Court's directive.

Dawa Lama was convicted by the Patan High Court on May 20, 2064, receiving a 5-year prison sentence along with a fine of 5,000. Despite this, he was apprehended by police for allegedly evading his sentence.

Lama had appealed the High Court's ruling to the Supreme Court, and upon discovering that the Supreme Court had instructed for him to be held pending further action rather than being immediately arrested, he was subsequently released.
