After a slow start to the competition, former winners and hosts Qatar have entered the finals of the ongoing prestigious AFC Asian Cup for the second time in a row.

In the second semi-final that ended on Wednesday, Qatar managed to get closer to the title after defeating Iran 3-2, which was limited to ten players at the end.

Iran took the lead in the fourth minute of the match in the capital Doha with the goal of star forward Sardar Azmoun. But in the 17th minute, Jasim Abdulsalam equalized for Qatar. Akram Afif's goal in the 43rd minute gave Qatar the lead in the game. The home team maintained that lead until the first half.

But in the 51st minute of the second half, Alireza scored the second and equalizing goal for Iran through a penalty. In the 82nd minute of the exciting game, experienced forward Almoz Ali scored the third and decisive goal for Qatar and confirmed the exciting victory of the team.

At the end of the match, when Iran's Shozai Khalilzadeh left the field after receiving a red card, the visiting team was down to ten players. Because of that, it became easier for Qatar to win.

Qatar will now face Jordan in the final on February 10 for the title. Jordan defeated South Korea 2-0 in the first semi-final only on Tuesday and managed to enter the final of the Asian Cup for the first time.
