The head coach of the National Women's Team, Rajendra Tamang, has unveiled the preliminary squad of 40 players for the upcoming 2024 WAFF Women's Championship in Saudi Arabia. The tournament is scheduled to take place from February 18 to February 28, showcasing the talent and determination of women footballers from the region.
The preliminary squad comprises a mix of experienced players and promising talents, carefully selected by Coach Tamang to represent Nepal on the international stage. The goalkeeping department will be safeguarded by the likes of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, Anjana Rana Magar, Usha Nath, Sapana Rai, and Kabita BK.
The defensive lineup includes stalwarts such as Amrita Jaishi, Gita Rana, Hira Kumari Bhujel, Puja Rana, Bimala BK, and Nisha Thokar, providing a solid foundation for the team. The midfield is bolstered by the presence of skillful players like Samikshya Ghimire, Anchali Waiba, Bimala Chaudhary, Anita Basnet, Preeti Rai, and Dipa Shahi.
The attacking force is led by the prolific Sabitra Bhandari, supported by players like Anita KC, Sabita Rana Magar, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Amisha Karki, Rekha Paudel, Chandra Bhandari, Hema Chaudhary, Ganga Gurung, Saraswoti Hamal, Pratikshya Chaudhary, Dipa Neupane, Monika Pulami Magar, Anushka Sherpa, Anjali Machamache, Sapana Thebe, Manmaya Damai, Samjhana Lawati, Nirmala Upadhyay, Priya Majhi, Saru Waiba, Rebika Panday, and Kumari Thokkar.
