Dharan sub-metropolitan city has made a winning start in the inter-city cup knockout football tournament. In the opening match, Dharan started winning by defeating Sundararaicha Municipality by 1 goal against zero.

The only goal scored by Insan Rai in the 18th minute of the second half became the 'decisive goal' for Dharan in the opening match at the Janata Multipurpose Campus located in Itahari-5. Rai, the decisive scorer, was chosen as the man of the match. He received 2100 cash and a medal as an award.

With this win, Dharan has also entered the semi-finals. Under the tournament, the second quarterfinal match on Sunday, January 8, will be played between Damak Municipality, Jhapa and Barahkshetra Municipality, Sunsari, the organizers informed.

Before that, the competition was inaugurated by Hem Karn Paudel, the mayor of Itahari sub-metropolitan city. Organized by Itahari Football Club, Itahari, Sunsari and Itahari sub-metropolitan city, Sunsari, the winner of the first competition will receive 1 lakh 1 thousand in cash along with the title, while the runner-up will receive 51 thousand.

The final match of the tournament in which a total of 8 teams are participating will be held on the 14th of Poush.
