News Taplejung: New Star Club Enters Final Of 3rd Sirijunga Cup

Jhapa's New Star Club has entered the finals of the ongoing 3rd Sirijunga Gold Cup here at Tellok, Taplejung.

In the first semi-final match at Tellok Mavi today, New Star defeated the visiting team Udaipur's Brotherhood FC in sudden death and made it to the final for the second time. At the scheduled time, Jhapa and Udaipur played a goalless draw. Even though a tiebreaker was chosen to decide the match, both teams drew 4-4. Finally, Jhapa won by 5-4 in sudden death.

Jhapa's goalkeeper Chari Limbu and Udaipur's goalkeeper Sandeep Limbu stopped one shot each. However, after Pravin Shrestha of Udaipur hit the goal post, Jhapa made it to the finals. Jhapa is the runner-up team of the second edition. Jhapa handed over the title to Sunakothi City FC of Lalitpur.

Jhapa's captain Sanam Rai was declared the man of the match for today's match. Similarly, Sunakothi, the previous winner, has entered the semi-finals by winning the last quarter-final match held today. Sunakothi has confirmed a meeting with Deurali Sporting Club of Ilam Sandakpur in the semi-final tomorrow.

Sunakothi defeated the common youth club of Panchthar by 1-0 in the semi-final journey. Savin Magar scored for him in injury time. He became the man of the match. On the occasion of the 319th birth anniversary of Tyensi Sirijangha Sin Thewe, the final match of the Gold Cup organized by Tellok Sporting Club will be held on 29th Mangsir. The winner will get cash 2 lakh 2 thousand 222 and trophy.
