News Taplejung: New Star Club, Jhapa & Deurali Ilam Enter SFs

New Star Club of Jhapa and Deurali Sporting Club of Ilam have entered the semi-finals of the ongoing 3rd Srijunga Gold Cup in Tellok, Taplejung.

In the second quarter-final match on Tuesday, Ilam defeated Karnasing Sonam Smriti Club of Taplejung by 3-1 and qualified for the semi-finals. Taplejung took the initial lead in the game. Pravin Jabegu scored a goal in the 11th minute of the game. However, Elam lost because they could not maintain their lead. For Eelam, Pikesh Loktam scored in the 26th minute and captain Vinod Dhamala scored in the 31st and 56th minutes of the game to make the trip to the semi-finals. Dhamala became the man of the match.

In the third quarterfinal match, they bet on a tiebreaker against their old rival Khewang. Both teams scored a 2-2 draw in the regular time match. Jhapa won the tiebreaker with a 5-4 goal difference. Jhapa's Viju Bhujel took the lead in 7 minutes of the game. Ashish Limbu scored the equalizing goal for Khewang in 9 minutes. He became man of the match. Khewang's Maniraj Limbu doubled the lead in the 26th minute. However, Jhapa's Ashish Limbu scored the equalizing goal in the 66th minute. Khewang captain Chris Rai's shot was missed in the tiebreaker.

Now Jhapa will play the first semi-final match against Brotherhood FC of Udaipur today (Wednesday). Panchthar's Sajha Yuva Club will compete against Sunakoti City FC of Lalitpur in the last quarterfinal match.

The final match of Gold Cup organized by Tellok Sporting Club will be held on 29th Mangsir. The winner will get an attractive trophy along with 2 lakh 2 thousand 222 in cash.
