News Nepal U20 Women's Team Flying To Myanmar For Round 2 AFC Asian Cup U20 Qualifiers

Nepal U20 women's team is flying to Yangoon, Myanmar for Round 2 AFC Asian Cup U20 Qualifiers.

ANFA is bidding farewell to the team tomorrow.

The Groups A and B winners and runners-up will join the three highest-seeded teams from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 - Japan, DPR Korea and Korea Republic – as well as host nation Uzbekistan at the Finals next year.

The second and final round of Qualifiers for the 11th edition of the tournament will be held in Vietnam and Myanmar – the centralised hosts for Groups A and B respectively.
Group B (which includes Nepal, China, Myanmar & Chinese Taipei) gets underway next Tuesday, June 6 at the centralised venue of Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, with China PR and Chinese Taipei first up at 3.30pm local time.
China PR are one of four teams to have qualified for every past edition and the only previous champion to take part in these Qualifiers – their first ever qualifying campaign, in fact. The 2006 winners take on a Chinese Taipei side aiming to feature for the fifth time with their last appearance coming in 2009.

Hunting a fifth qualification and a second straight appearance, hosts Myanmar entertain Nepal later in the day at 6.30pm. Both sides had also clashed at the same stage in the previous edition of qualifying, which was Nepal’s first campaign. The visitors will have to upset the odds to appear at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ for a second time, with their sole previous participation coming in 2004 as a direct entrant.
