Nepal Indo veterans championship got underway at Kakarvitta, Jhapa on Saturday.

Darjeeling United defeated Dharampur veterans 2-1 in the opening match.

Gautam Thapa scored the opener for Darjeeling in 10th minute. Dip Ghimire doubled the lead in 48th minute. Lila Bahadur Joshi scored one for Dharampur.

Ghimire became the man of the match and he received Nrs 2,100.

Birtamod Veterans will meet CBC Chandragadhi and Everest FC Morang will play against Doars India on Sunday.

The championship has a winning purse of Rs 1,25,000. Runners up team will get Rs 51,000.

Earlier mayor of Mechinagar, Bimal Acharya inaugurated the championship, which is organized by Kakarvitta veterans FC.
