News Belbari FC Win Pittsburg Challenge Cup

Morang - Belbari FC, Morang have won the title of the Pittsburg Challenge Cup held in Morang's Pathari Shanishchare. Belbari defeated Chartare FC 4-2 on penalties to win the title of the tournament.

The regulation time ended 0-0 and the match was sent to penalties. Belbari FC's Maisam Subba, Abhishek Gurung, Suraj Rai and Nishan Limbu scored goals in tiebreaker, while Wilson Giri's shot was saved by the opposing goalkeeper Tekendra Thapa. Ashok Khawar and Jai Gurung scored for Chartarae. Sushil Rai's shot was saved by Belbari goalkeeper Kishor Giri, while Abhishek Limbu's shot went wide.

Kishor Giri was declared the man of the match in the final and received Rs. 2,500. He was also declared the goalkeeper of the tournament. In the competition, Raj Kumar Rai of Belbari was declared the best coach and received Rs. 5,000 cash, while Bibek Paudel was declared the best player and received Rs. 7,500. Letang's Bhuvan Basnet was declared the best forward, Abhishek Limbu the best defender, Jay Gurung the best midfielder. They all received 5,000 each. Sajan Yakkha from Belbari and Rupak Lama from Letang finished as the the high scorers of the competition.

According to the organizing committee, Belbari and Chartare received Rs. 2,01,000 and Rs. 1,01,111 respectively.

According to the organizers, eight teams including Damak Academy, Pathari-11 FC, Chartare FC (Letang), Bhutanese Refugee Camp, Patharishanishare, Belbari FC, Beldangi Bhutanese Refugee Camp, Jahada FC and 10 Navodaya participated in the tournament.
