The hosts Mills Veterans have started the tournament with a victory in the Province 1 First Tuborg Mills Veterans Gold Cup football tournament that started on Saturday.

Mills Veterans beat Dulari Veterans 3-1 in the opening match at the Biratnagar Jute Mills playground.

Santosh Chongbang scored two goals and Prakash Poudel scored one more goal in the host's victory. Chudamani Basnet scored the only goal for the defeated Dulari.

Santosh Chongbang, who scored two goals for Mills Veterans in the match, was declared the man of the match. With this win, the host, who got a bye in the tournament, have entered the semi-finals.

As part of the competition, the match on Sunda will be played between Hamro Dharan Veterans, Sunsari and Damak-Lakhanpur Veterans, Jhapa, the organizers informed.

Organized by Mills Veterans Club, Biratnagar and sponsored by Tuborg, the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs 51,111 along with the title, while the runner-up will receive Rs 31,111. The final of the tournament, in which a total of 11 teams are participating, will be held on the 10th of Ashoj.
