Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol paid a visit to the Nepal national women's team.
On Friday morning, Mayor Shah and Deputy Mayor Dangol went to the hotel where the team was staying to wish the players for the ongoing SAFF Women's Championship. According to team captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba on social media, their good wishes would boost the team's spirits.
Nepal have not clinched the title of the tournament coming to the sixth edition. Nepal have come close several times with four final defeats to India.
The sixth SAFF Championship, in which seven South Asian countries are participating, is still ongoing at the Dasharath Stadium. On September 6, Nepal trounced Bhutan 4-0 in the first game. Mayor Shah and Deputy Mayor Dangol traveled to the stadium to witness that game on the tournament's opening day.
Nepal will face Sri Lanka in their next match on September 12. Bangladesh, Pakistan and Maldives are in the other group, along with five-time champions India.
