New Nepal National Women's Team skipper Anjila Tumbapo Subba has expressed her feeling after the win against Bhutan on Tuesday. Nepal defeated Bhutan 4-0 to register three points in the group B of the SAFF Women's Championship in Kathmandu.
Anjila took to her Facebook to write:
"ANFA trusted me and made me the captain of the women's national team. Thanks to ANFA, coaches, players, former players for that. This means added responsibilities. Every player wants to win titles under their captaincy. Mine is the same. We have made a winning start in the SAFF Women's Championship-2022, which started yesterday at home. Sabitra Bhandari and Anita Basnet made sure we got a comfortable win against Bhutan.
The performance of young players has made us very excited. We are aiming to win the title for the first time at home by playing better in the rest of the matches, correcting the mistakes made. We will definitely succeed."
Nepal will face Sri Lanka in the final group match on Monday. The win against Bhutan has put Nepal in a strong position to qualify for the semifinals. Nepal have previously finished runners-up four times in this tournament.
