At its fourth meeting today, the AFC Club Licensing Task Force praised the Asian Football Confederation AFC Member Associations (MAs) for their ability to adapt their Club Licensing Systems to the changes in 2019 AFC club tournament season.

On July 29, 2022, the new AFC Club Licensing Regulations (2022 Edition) went into effect, incorporating numerous major revisions that will be applied for issuing licenses to participating clubs in the AFC Club Competitions beginning with the 2023/2024 season.
Chairperson Hamad Mohamed Aljneibi acknowledged the work of various MAs in adopting the new modifications based on the amended regulations in his opening remarks.

Chairperson Aljneibi said: “I would like to acknowledge our collective efforts to raise professionalism in Asian club football despite the challenges. Club licensing was implemented in Asia over a decade ago, and it is still important in raising the quality of our sport throughout the continent."

"Throughout this period of transformation, the AFC's MAs have received significant support, and I am certain that these recent developments will drive Asian football on the right path and confirm the AFC's status as a model Confederation."

The Task Force evaluated numerous Club Licensing Quality standard criteria of Licensors in executing the Club Licensing system and agreed to lift the suspension imposed on Tajikistan Football Federation's Club Licensing Administration after they corrected the majority of the issues.

Furthermore, the Task Force resolved to keep the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran Club Licensing Administration suspended until all deficiencies were addressed and corrected to the satisfaction of the AFC General Secretariat.

The Task Force resolved to prolong the implementation of Futsal Club Licensing from 2024 to 2025, taking into account the effects of the pandemic on most MAs and the transition to the new AFC club competition season.

The Task Force also heard updates on the Women's Club Licensing Regulations, which were issued earlier this year to boost the growth of the women's game on the Continent.
