News Pokhara: Quarterfinals Completed In The National Nine-a-Side Veterans Tournament

The quarter-final matches of the National Nine-a-Side Veterans Football Tournament organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Gandaki Pradesh at Pokhara Stadium have been completed on Sunday.

In the first quarter-final, Bagar Bhai Khalak of Pokhara defeated Jorpati of Kathmandu 4-2. Manoj Gurung scored in the second and 47th minutes for Bagar. Ganga Tamang scored in the 43rd minute and Deepak Pun also managed to get on the scoresheet Bagar Bhai Khalak. Sajin Lama and Ranjit Lama pulled two goals back for Jorpati. Manoj Gurung was declared the player of the match.

Chitwan Veterans defeated Sangam Club A of Pokhara 3-0. Birendra Bahadur Pandey scored in the tenth minute of the match. Surendra Chaudhary doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Bharat Gurung scored in the 40th minute of the match and rounded off the win comfortably. Rajendra Kumar was declared the player of the match.

Sangam Club B of Pokhara secured the semifinal berth by defeating Manang Marshyangdi Club. Bijay Gurung scored a goal in the 44th minute of the match to defeat Manang 1-0. He was declared the player of the match as well.

In the last match, Sano Gaucharan defeated Freedom Fighter of Kathmandu 4-3 in a penalty shootout to make it to the last four. After a 2-2 draw in regulation time, the match was decided on penalties.

In the semi-finals, Sangam B of Pokhara will compete against Bagar Bhai Khalak while Chitwan Veterans will play against Sano Gaurachan, said Dil Bahadur Gurung, coordinator of the competition.
