News Jhapa: Football Tournament With The Aim Of Curbing Drug Issues

A second Bhotetar inter-district level football tournament is to be organized at Bhotetar in Buddhashanti-1, Jhapa with the objective of helping in the prevention of drug addiction. The organizers expect football to be helpful in curbing the recent increase in drug users.

With the objective of keeping them busy in football games, providing free treatment to drug users, organizing public awareness programs against drugs, assisting the needy students in their studies and increasing the fund established in the model basic school to Rs.1 Lakhs. It has been informed in a press conference on Wednesday that preparations have been made to organize the tournament from January 1st.

Sports coordinator Nanda Kumar Yamfu (Rai) informed us that preparations for the football tournament organized by New Star Youth Club are in full swing. According to the organizers, eight football clubs from Jhapa, Morang and Ilam will participate in the competition. District Football Association Jhapa has given the approval to organize the football.

The winning team will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 50,000 in cash while the runners-up will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 30,000 in cash, said club president Kamal Mukhiya.

Secretary of the club Gajuhang Limbu said that the best goalkeeper, defender, mid-fielder, forward and top scorer of the tournament will be awarded. According to him, the competition will be helpful for the promotion of football along with the promotion of Bhotetar in the northern region of Buddhashanti VDC. The organizers estimate that it will cost around Rs. 500,000 to complete the competition at Bhotetar Sports Ground.
