Kathmandu, May 27 – In a major boost for women’s football in the region, Nepal has been confirmed as the host nation for the first-ever edition of the SAFF Women’s Club Championship, scheduled to take place this November.

The landmark decision was made during the SAFF Committee meeting held in Kathmandu recently, signaling a significant step forward for the development of women’s club football in South Asia.

The much-anticipated tournament will feature top women's football clubs from across the SAFF member nations, providing a new competitive platform at the club level and aiming to elevate the standard of women's football in the region.

This move fulfills an earlier commitment by SAFF to expand its tournament portfolio with a club-level championship, reinforcing the organization’s intent to strengthen the sport beyond national teams.

With the announcement of the women’s edition, expectations are now rising around the potential launch of the men's SAFF Club Championship in the near future. The successful execution of the women’s event could pave the way for broader club-level competitions across genders.

Nepal’s selection as the host continues its active role in regional football development, and preparations are expected to begin soon to welcome clubs and fans from across South Asia.
