Nepal U16 coaching staffs have refuted media reports about foul playing in players selection.
Nepal U16 coach Sunil Shrestha, coach Raj Kumar KC and GK coach Binod Maharjan issued a press release on Wednesday saying that they did nothing wrong in players selection for recently held AFC U16 championship qualifiers.
Some online media had reported that goalkeeper Roshan Nepal wasn’t included in the team to include the son of ANFA VP Pankaj Bikram Nembang.
“The media report is wrong. We have selected the players (including GK Pathhuhang Nembang) on merit basis. There was no pressure on us while selecting the players for AFC U16 qualifiers.
“Roshan Nepal and other 12 Academy players were released after SEE result. We haven’t removed goalie Roshan Nepal to include other players”, the coaches said in unison.
Coaches also said that they were deeply hurt by media reports.
“The media reports were baseless. We did fair selection for the qualifiers”, added coaches.
Nepal collected four points in four matches. They defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 and played 1-1 draw against Kuwait. However they were crushed by Jordan and Tajikistan by 7-0.
