Nepal national team skipper Biraj Maharjan has urged ANFA to announce date of presidential election as soon as possible.
Maharjan, who is also VP of All Nepal football players association, said Nepalese players were unemployed as there was no league football in country.
“There is no league football since three years. We want solid league football. More than 500 players are unemployed or they are getting paid less (for only mofasal tournaments). ANFA must announce the date of the election soon. We want this election to complete so that new leadership will plan for the league”, said Maharjan.
Former Nepal skipper Hari Khadka also urged ANFA to announce election date as soon as possible.
“FIFA/AFC can suspend Nepal for not holding election. ANFA must act fast. If ANFA won’t hold election, we will go extreme to put pressure on them”, warned Khadka.
ANFA has said that they would follow court process before finalizing date of the election.
Makwanpur and Bhaktapur had moved to court that halted ANFA election, which was scheduled on March 28, 2018.
Both districts have already conducted their assemblies but they haven’t vacated case from the court, which is necessary for ANFA to announce the date of the election.
Gautam Sukhaju and Manish Shrestha, officials from Bhaktapur and Makwanpur are close ally of suspended Ganesh Thapa, who are backing president candidate Mani Kunwar.
