News Salhesh FC, Siraha Clinches Final Spot in Second Taplejung Gold Cup

After Thrilling Penalty Shootout In a dramatic semi-final clash at the second Taplejung Gold Cup, Siraha has secured their place in the final, defeating Birtamod United FC Jhapa in a penalty shootout.

The match held in Fungling, Salhesh Yuva Club played 1-1 draw with Birtamod after regular and extra time, leading to a nail-biting tri-breaker.

The game saw its first breakthrough in the 18th minute when Siraha's John Glory put his team ahead. However, Birtamod equalized after an unfortunate own goal by Seve, who inadvertently scored in his own net. Seve made amends in the 56th minute with a crucial header, but the match remained level at 1-1 after 105 minutes of play.

The encounter was then decided by a penalty shootout, where Siraha emerged victorious with a 4-2 win. Siraha's goalkeeper, Pradip Bhandari, played a pivotal role in the triumph, making key saves and earning the Man of the Match award along with a cash prize of 5,000 rupees.

Notably, Birtamod's Nima Tamang had his shot blocked by Bhandari, and Saurabh Limbu's attempt struck the post. On the other hand, Hisub Thapalia and Rohan Karki scored for Siraha. In contrast, Siraha’s Pravesh Danuwar, Jai Gurung, Santosh Khatri, and Aditya Shakya converted their penalties successfully. Siraha will now face Morang's Everest Youth Club in the final, scheduled for Bhadra 10.

Sagarmatha Youth Club had secured their final spot earlier by defeating Sangharsh Sporting Yuwa Club of Taplejung 2-1 in the first semi-final. The winner of the final will take home 500,000 rupees, while the runner-up will receive a trophy, medal, certificate, and 250,555 rupees.
