News Nepal Finish U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers With Zero Points

Nepal U-17 National Team have concluded the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers with zero points. Nepal lost 4-2 to Chinese Taipei in the final group F match at the Phu Tho Provincial Stadium in Vietnam on Sunday to finish the journey without a single point on board. Both teams had already been eliminated from the run to the AFC U-17 Asian Cup before the match.

Taipei took the lead in the match early on in the third minute through Lin Hai-Cheng. Skipper Prashant Laksam equalized for Nepal in the 10th minute. Tai Yan-Yao put Taipei in front again in the 28th minute. The first half ended 2-1.

Nepal were level again after Dhan Singh BK scored to bring the scoreline to 2-2. Nepal had to play the last ten minutes of the match with ten men after Dipak Thapa Magar was sent off in the 79th minute. Taipei added two goals after Nepal were down to ten men.

Li Yi-Ting scored a stellar free kick to give Taipei the lead for the third time in the match. Lin Hai-Cheng scored his second of the match in the dying minutes to give Taipei a 4-2 win.

Chinese Taipei finished third in the group with three points. Nepal finished at the bottom of the group with zero points.

Vietnam and Thailand, who have six points each so far will take on each later today to finalize the top spot and the runners-up in the group. The team finishing at the top will directly qualify for the finals while the six best runners-up in the ten groups will also play in the finals next year.
