
Jayapur, in Buddhashanti Village Municipality-2, will host the 7th Naba Jyoti Challenge Cup Football Tournament. It was postponed last year owing to the concern of COVID-19. At a press conference on Tuesday, it was announced that eight teams from Nepal and India will compete in the competition, which will be held from February 25 to March 5 at Adarsha Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Jayapur and organized by Naba Jyoti Youth Club.
Teams from Ilam, Morang, Sunsari, Darjeeling, Jhapa, and Kathmandu will compete alongside the hosts, according to club chairman Gopal Pokharel. According to him, the competition's winners and runners-up would get cash awards of Rs 150,000 and Rs 75,000, as well as a shield, medals, and certificates.
The completion of the competition is projected to cost Rs. 1.23 million, according to the press conference.
On the occasion, Dilip Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of Buddhashanti-2 Ward Committee, ward member Netra Gautam, founding secretary of the club Dhurba Kumar Oli, Jibal Pokharel, Hariraj Kadaria, and others addressed. Amir Shrestha hosted the event, which was chaired by Pokhrel, the club's chairman. The club has been holding numerous activities in the fields of sports, culture, and literature in Jayapur since its establishment in 2042 BS.
