The match winner for Nepal, Manish Dangi has thanked coach Abdullah Almutairi for his trust on him.

Nepal defeated Maldives 1-0, for the first time in SAFF championship at national stadium, Male city on Friday night.

Dangi said coach AA pumped him in the dug out saying that - Manish, get ready. You can score the goal.

"When I entered the field. My aim, my instinct was that I had to score the goal. When the opportunity came in, I didn't think anything. I moved with the ball and tried to slot the ball home. It feels great. I would like to thank coach for the trust.

"I would like to congratulate my teammates, officials and the fans for this great victory", said Dangi, who has scored two internationals goals so far.

Nepal will now take on Sri Lanka on October 4.

There are five SAARC nations taking part. Top two teams will play the final match on October 16, 2021.
